About
Alex Maertz is an illustrator, designer and painter based in the beautiful, wild village of Cumberland, BC. Born a stone’s throw from the woods, Alex instinctively draws on nature as an inspiration and a guide. Her use of simple shapes, patterns and colours creates an organic feel that connects people with the great outdoors. Alex hopes that her work evokes a feeling of calm, and a loving kindness to all creatures big and small. Growing up with both parents being artists and creators, her love of making art began at a young age. Alex went on to receive her Bachelors of Design in Visual Communication from the IDEA School of Design. Today, Alex fills her days with drawing and painting with her two children, surrounded by the beautiful forests of Vancouver Island.
